Looking to Buy a Home?
Buying a home is a weighty decision for everyone, but for veterans, there are many unique factors to consider. The process can be a stressful one, but not if you’re well-informed. That's why I wrote, “7 Home Buying Tips Every Veteran Needs to Know” for the Redfin blog. You can see the full post here: https://www.redfin.com/blog/
Anyone entitled to education benefits should periodically check with the Department of Veterans Affairs regarding the Post-9/11 GI Bill or other entitlements. Click here for additional information. And, please note that you can ONLY assign your education benefits to close family members WHILE YOU ARE STILL ON ACTIVE DUTY!! Plus, the US House of Representatives passed the "Forever GI Bill" the week of July 24, 2017. The Senate will take up the bill soon, then it will be sent to the President for signature. More information will be provided here when it is passed by the Senate.
American Legion Post 290 Christmas Food Basket
Every year, Post 290, in conjunction with the Stafford County Public School system, sponsors a food drive in order to provide holiday meals for those county residents in need of some assistance. Donation boxes are delivered to the schools in November and will be picked up by Post 290 members in mid-December. This year, the boxes will be delivered to the schools on 26 Nov and picked up on 20 Dec. Sorting and packing will take place at the Post Annex on 20-21 Dec and distribution will occur on 22 Dec.
Members of the Post and volunteers sort, organize and prepare food baskets in late December in order to have them available for distribution shortly before the holidays.
If you would like to participate in this program as a volunteer, receive additional information concerning the project, or if you know of any families in need of assistance, please contact our program coordinator, Mike Robinson at 540-760-3255 or email@example.com.
